This is so sad. RIP Kate Spade, the iconic designer was found dead in her Manhattan apartment of an apparent suicide.
From TMZ:
Law enforcement sources confirm she was found 10:20 AM ET, and had hanged herself in her Park Avenue home. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Kate got her start in the '80s working for women's magazine "Mademoiselle" in Manhattan, when she moved in with Andy Spade -- David Spade's brother. She and Andy met in college while working at a clothing store.
NY Daily News adds:
A housekeeper found the 55-year-old designer in her home on Park Ave. near E. 77th St. at about 10:20 a.m. Spade had hung herself, police sources said.
Kate Spade New York has more than 140 retail shops and around the U.S., and more than175 elsewhere in the world.
