The Force is strong in theaters today with the opening of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." The film continues the adventures of Rey, Finn, Luke Skywalker, and for one last time, Princess Leia. It's expected to have the best opening of any movie this year.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is on track to have the best opening of any movie this year. Early box office estimates show the new Star Wars movie soaring to a near-record 45-million-dollars in Thursday previews.
That would be the second-best preview number of all time behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
The eighth Star Wars movie is expected to make about 200-million-dollars overall in its domestic debut, making it the strongest debut of the year.

I wonder if people are really mad at the Last Jedi because they didn’t like it, or because it smashed all our theories we spent the last 2 years carefully creating?🤔 #lastjedi— Brian West (@BrianWest53) December 15, 2017
I’m high. High on Star Wars. I haven’t loved, truly LOVED a Star Wars movie this much since I was a kid. Thank you to everyone involved for this. The second viewing was so emotional. Luke. Leia. Tears. #LastJedi #TheLastJedi pic.twitter.com/oBPD03F6vr— Chris Gore (@ThatChrisGore) December 15, 2017
People sure seem to be hating on #LastJedi on Twitter. Just left a theatre that erupted into applauds probably 10 times throughout. Fantastic movie. Fuck the haters.— Jeremy Pagée (@jbearpagee) December 15, 2017
