Hurricane Irma victims who got a letter from FEMA denying them disaster assistance should not take that as the final word. 

Officials say you should read those letters carefully; they may explain any problems that need to be corrected, such as additional information or documentation that might be required. Also, they say everyone has the right to appeal any FEMA decision.
