The mayor of Orlando is offering help to his counterpart in Las Vegas following Sunday night's mass shooting that left 59 people dead and more than 500 injured. Until now, Orlando had been the scene of the worst such tragedy in U.S. history.
Mayor Buddy Dyer said that Orlando city officials now understand the magnitude of what it takes to care for and nurture the victims of such an event, along with their families and loved ones.
Dyer urged Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman to set up a family assistance center like the one in Orlando to help meet the needs of those affected by the shooting in the coming days, weeks and months.
