Miami Beach's mayor is warning residents to prepare for flooding as forecasters expect a deluge to inundate south Florida through the weekend. Mayor Philip Levine sent an email saying that the consecutive days of rainfall forecasters anticipate over the next few days with the passage of a tropical wave will overwhelm the city's drainage system.
The city is in the midst of a multi-billion-dollar, long-term effort to raise its streets by feet, and Levine says current water drainage projects will not be finished for a few years.
