South Floridians Win Big at #TonyAwards2017

``Dear Evan Hansen,'' a heart-wrenching musical about teen angst, loneliness and suicide in the social media age, has taken top honors at the Tony awards. The show stars 23-year-old Ben Platt in a breakout performance. It won six awards Sunday evening, including best musical and best actor for Platt.  It also won best score for its young composers, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, already Oscar winners for the movie ``La La Land.''

And Miami's own Alex Lacamoire, graduate of the New World School of the Arts, won his 3rd Tony for Best Orchestration on Dear Evan Hansen.

A Boca Raton-native is celebrating an acting win from last night's Tony Awards.  Rachel Bay Jones walked away with the award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in "Dear Evan Hansen" at last night's ceremony in New York City.  She was born in New York City, but raised in south Florida.
