Miami-Dade Commissioner Bruno Barreiro is defending a decision to name a street after Marlins pitching ace Jose Fernandez.
A section of Nothwest 17th Avenue between U.S. Highway 1 and the Miami River will be named after the Marlins pitcher.
Barreiro says the decision was made in November before yesterday's report by Florida Wildlife Commission investigators.
It showed Fernandez had cocaine in his system and was driving drunk when he crashed his boat and killed himself and two passengers. Barreiro says the street recognizes Fernandez for his accomplishments in life and "success as a ball player".
SHOULD JOSE FERNANDEZ HAVE A STREET NAMED AFTER HIM?
