The nearly $550,000 available is pooled from the HOME Investment Partnership Program, State Housing Initiative Partnership and Community Development Block Grant Program & CARES Act.

In addition to rental assistance, the City of North Miami and the its Community Redevelopment Agency have two other programs in place.

The New Renters Assistance Program is a $1 million program offering grants for up to two months’ rent to eligible North Miami residents who live within the CRA boundaries. Funds will be awarded via a lottery system.

Deadline to apply is May 29. Apply via e-mail at cgrants@northmiamifl.govor pick up an application at the Joe Celest in Center at 1525 NW 135th St.

Also available to residents is the City Emergency Utility Assistance Program administered by the North Miami Low Income Home Utility Assistance Foundation. The city’s Housing and Social Services Department will allocate $250,000 in funds to eligible residents to help their water bill. And for 240 small business owners, the Emergency Relief to Jump Start Businesses program is making $5,000 available for aid in reopening once they’re able to. Only businesses within the CRA boundaries are eligible.
