A Tennessee cop who recovered from COVID received a standing ovation from nurses and doctors at a Palm Beach County hospital as he left on Wednesday.

Sean Finn was brought to South Florida for treatment on an ECMO machine, after her nearly died from the coronavirus. He spent 81 days on the treatment, but needed a private flight.

Ali Hemyari with a Nashville non-profit heard his story and wanted to provide it. The man is also a police officer.

"We wanted to take care of our own here too. He's a father, I'm a father. He's a husband, I'm a husband and that really struck a chord with us."

Finn got a police escort to the airport, where he was greeted by a large crowd including local police officers like Sgt. Adam Myers with the West Palm Beach PD.

"Officer Finn is in the same position as one of our officers who was sent to Cleveland, Ohio for ECMO treatment."

Officer Anthony Testa lost his life, despite that treatment. Myers says it was important that he support another hero who did survive.

Finn arrived in Tennessee a couple of hours later, where he received another large welcome when he arrived at Nashville, including his daughters and several law enforcement officers.

He spoke with local media there upon arrival.

"It's truly amazing to be coming home and I mean it's just little old me and everyone's here for just me. It doesn't seem like it's real."

While Finn was able to walk out of the hospital, he still has only about 25 percent lung function and will have to get outpatient therapy.

He tells CBS 12 that he plans on returning to work as a police officer, but isn't sure if he will ever go back to working on the street.
