9 times out of 10, if you find a stranger sleeping on your front lawn in Florida, they are either drunk, on meth, or both. The Sebastian Police Department were asking themselves that very same question when they responded to a call Monday (8/8/22) morning, saying that a woman was sleeping on someone’s front lawn.

When Sebastian Police officers responded to the resident's front lawn and woke the sleeping woman up, they say they smelled the slight odor of alcohol, but the woman told police that she doesn't drink alcohol or do drugs. However, she did admit that she didn't know how she ended up on the homeowner's front lawn.

Officers were able to identify the woman as 35-year-old Brittany Laurel Heckman of Sebastian, Florida.

Police noticed that on the ground, next to Sleeping Beauty was a Louis Vuitton purse, which Heckman gave consent for police to search. That's when officers discovered a digital scale and a glass pipe containing burnt residue.

The purse also contained a purple sock with 3 plastic bags containing a crystal-like substance, which tested positive for a combined total of 16.9 grams of methamphetamine.

After refusing to speak further with law enforcement, Heckman was charged with trafficking a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail on bond.

This is not her first run-in with law enforcement, in 2021, Heckman was arrested for Public Assistance Fraud after working a full-time job and receiving public assistance benefits.
