For the first time ever, a teenager saw something on the internet and repeated it. Joking, but a Florida teenager is making headlines for making an adventure out of an area flood, by wakeboarding through the streets of Cape Coral.

16-year-old Brett Holland told WBBH-TV that he once saw something similar on the Internet and saw the flooding in the aftermath of Sunday's (6/26/22) storms in Cape Coral as an opportunity to have some fun.

Holland explained that he tied a rope to the back of his dad's truck and while his dad drove him through the flooded streets, he hung on tight and wakeboarded behind the vehicle.

Although Holland said he wouldn't necessarily recommend that others attempt the stunt, he explained, "When we were living in Mississippi, I saw a couple people doing this on the Internet and now that I wakeboard and surf I was like, 'I gotta do it!'"

A deputy with the Cape Coral Police Department said Holland's father could have been issued a citation for careless driving if the stunt had been witnessed by an officer, and also advised viewers on the dangers that can happen with a stunt like that.

"There's risks. I mean, I fell, skinned my hand a little bit," Holland recalled.
