It is with a heavy heart that I report on this news today. As a frequent Disney Springs visitor, I was really looking forward to the Brightline train making a stop there, however, despite Brightline announcing its agreement with Disney World to build the train station at Disney Springs in November 2020, those plans have been nixed.
A representative for Disney confirmed to the Orlando Business Journal on Monday (6/27/22) evening that the multi-million dollar expansion project has been canceled.
The change of plans will now take the high-speed passenger train directly from International Drive in Orlando to a station in Tampa.
A spokesperson for Disney, Avery Maehrer said in a statement, "new route configuration does not support a Disney Springs station and, as a result, we don't anticipate being part of this project."
Brightline currently has stops in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.
