If you didn't know, famous actress Mila Kunis is from the Ukraine and considering all that is going on in her home country, she spoke about how she left the Soviet Union at the age of 7. Mila was born in Ukraine in 1983 but immigrated in 1990 with her family. She told The Los Angeles Times, "It was very communist, and my parents wanted my brother and me to have a future, and so they just dropped everything. They came with $250."
She even spoke about how she doesn't remember anything from the 2nd grade when she first arrived to the US. Her parents had to find work in random places to get by and she thinks possibly it was very stressful, explaining why she cant remember and has blocked that whole year out of her memory.
Mila in 2011 did an interview with the Daily Telegraph saying, "After the Holocaust, in Russia you were not allowed to be religious. So my parents raised me to know I was Jewish. You know who you are inside. When I was in school you would still see anti-Semitic signs."
I honestly cant imagine what it must have been like for her, or what it must be like for those who are fleeing now and had to leave behind loved ones.
