Never mind Florida's hurricanes, famously inept criminals and large population of dangerous crocodiles and alligators; eight of the Panhandle State's cities have made U.S. News' 2021 "Best Places to Retire" list.

Using data provided by the U.S. Census Department, the FBI and the IRS, U.S. News editors have determined that Sarasota provides the best retirement accommodations for U.S. retirees, the news agency reports. Three other cities occupy the next three positions on the list: Naples, Daytona Beach and Melbourne, followed by Lancaster, Pennsylvania at number five.

Tampa appears at number six, followed by Fort Myers and Port Saint Lucie at seven and eight, respectively. Ann Arbor, Michigan checks in at number nine, followed by another Florida city, Pensacola, at number 10, according to U.S. News.
