Britney Spears’ conservatorship lawyer Sam Ingham resigned as her council earlier this week, and now the singer’s mom has stepped in to take some control.

TMZ reports Lynne Spears has filed legal documents requesting that a judge allow Britney to hire her own private lawyer, or for the court to appoint one Britney approves of, to help her end her conservatorship.

The documents note that Britney is not in the same place she was 13 years ago when the conservatorship was put in place and can care for herself. The documents say that among the requests Brit made during her testimony last month, the most important is getting her own lawyer so her other demands can be met.

Lynne has requested a hearing for July 14th.

In other Britney news…

· Britney will likely have to undergo a mental evaluation before her conservatorship could possibly end but she’s not confident it will be fair. “She doesn't have much trust for the doctors that she has worked with so far,” a source says. “She feels like they have failed her.”

· “Heat” magazine claims A-list stars like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton and more have pledged to support Britney in her battle to free herself from her conservatorship. The source notes they have all been “in touch” and are “offering what advice they can.” The insider adds, "They have also offered to set up a legal fund for her."
