Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, along with District 8 Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, announced the “Safe Summers Program,” aimed at keeping kids involved in full time summer activities that way they can stay away from gun violence.

Safe Summers will provide $250,000 in grant funding to seven community based organizations with one goal: to keep youth safe and away from gun violence

Cava said nearly $2 million will be invested in the program to expand it in the fall.
