Cranberries Singer Dolores O'Riordan Drowned After Drinking

posted by GiGi Diaz -

Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan was found dead in a London hotel on the morning of Jan. 15. She was submerged in the bathtub and around her were five miniature bottles and a bottle of champagne. Also nearby were containers of prescription drugs.

While toxicology tests revealed that O'Riordan's blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit for driving, there were only "therapeutic" amounts of prescription medication in her system according to experts.

Coroner Shirley Radcliffe said that O'Riordan died from drowning because of alcohol intoxication.

"There's no evidence that this was anything other than an accident," she said.

Multiple sources say that O'Riordan suffered physical and mental health problems over the years. In 2017 the Cranberries had to cut their tour short due to the singer having back problems. In a number of interviews O'Riordan shared having been sexually abused as a child, she discussed her battles with depression and also shared having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
