Nicki Minaj Forced To Cancel 'Ellen' Appearance Due To 'Doctor's Orders'

Nicki Minaj encountered a small detour in her promotional circuit after the rapper had to cancel her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show due to doctor's orders, as per a new message on Twitter.

"I couldn't fly out to shoot Ellen. [Doctor's Orders]. I’m sad about that. There’s an announcement I was going to make on Ellen. I’ll make it tomorrow via social media instead. Love you," she told her 21.3 million followers on Tuesday (May 22). Minaj's cancellation comes just days after she took over Saturday Night Live to perform on the Season 43 finale of the NBC series. During the Tina Fey-hosted episode, she offered up performances of "Chun-Li" and "Poke It Out," her collab with Playboi Carti

Minaj has plenty of announcements that could potentially relate to the release of her forthcoming album, Queen, which drops on June 15. She's yet to unveil the tracklist or the cover art for the LP, so that could have potentially been part of her appearance.

In her discussion with T Magazine, Nicki explained that the sonic evolution behind her next album has a lot of thought incorporated into it. "Sonically, I know what the album’s about to sound like. I know what this album is gonna mean to my fans. This album is everything in my life coming full circle and me being truly, genuinely happy. It feels almost like a celebration," she explained in the October 2017 interview. "The last album, The Pinkprint, was almost like my diary, closing the chapter on certain things and not knowing if I was happy or sad about beginning new chapters. I was really writing about feeling unsure. Now, I can tell you guys what happened for the last two years of my life. I know who I am. I am getting Nicki Minaj figured out with this album and I'm loving her."
