President Trump Is Headed To The Sunshine State

President Donald Trump will be in the Sunshine State this week, to survey damages and respond following Hurricane Irma, according to the White House.

"The president and the entire administration continue to monitor the situation in Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, Florida, Texas and all areas affected by Hurricanes Irma and Harvey," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Tuesday.

The plan is for President Trump to arrive in Florida Thursday.

Details of the trip, including where exactly Trump will be, are still being worked out. However, he tweeted Wednesday morning that he will be meeting with the U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA, first responders and others.

The president also traveled twice to Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

White House officials cast the Florida trip as part of his overall effort to build national unity in the wake of natural disasters.
